As a member of Deseret Bookshelf, I am listening to the nine-volume series Prelude to Glory by Ron Carter about the Revolutionary history of America.  I had many ancestors who were in America when it was called British Colonial America. I am filled with deep gratitude for these ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War so I could enjoy the blessings of the Deceleration of Independence.  “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness . . .” 

The picture above is of our son as we visited a historical site where they had clothing and accessories a child wear for a picture.  This son later went on a mission for our Church to a country that did not enjoy the freedoms we do.  In his front yard the flag of the United States of America waves in the breeze, reminding all who see it the blessings of America.    

 

Ron Carter in his series Prelude to Glory has interwoven a family from Boston who lived through British Colonial America and includes   Fort Henry where Frances Scott Key wrote “Oh, say can you see ...” and Henry Jackson “In 1814 we took a little trip, down the Mississippi ...”
