The Joyous Night of Christmas Carolers

"Silent night, Holy night all is calm all is bright ..."

We had just moved into a new home, it was our last year of college and to our joy and excitement, we were finally going to have a baby. Christmas Eve came and we invited my parents and two sisters for Christmas Eve dinner and then gathered around the fireplace to read the Christmas story. A knock came at the door. I answered the door and immediately was greeted with the strains of “Silent Night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright . .. ” It was heavenly music on a heavenly night. New friends had come to sing Christmas Carols to us. It was magic! I had seen pictures in books with Christmas Carolers but never before had them visit the home I lived in. Even to this day, I can feel the sweet spirit they carried and the welcoming to a new neighborhood we received. My parents marveled at the sound and sight. They were from a farming community. They had never had Christmas Carolers before. They brought the perfect ending to a perfect day. I vowed that we would start a tradition of singing Christmas Carols to others. Oh, the stories I can tell are priceless...." Merry Christmas to all of you!.
