“Over the River & Through the Woods ....”
This wonderful holiday began in want as the Pilgrims landed on new ground to form a government with freedom to worship as they desired. Of the 102 passengers and crew, 53 died the first winter. They had a chance to return to England but chose to stay. It is right that we honor and think about them on Thanksgiving Day. When I was young, I know of one Thanksgiving where we had a turkey that was on our farm. Most of the time we ate roasted chicken. There is a delicious roasted chicken at the following website - Juicy Roasted Chicken by ROBINROCKINGBIRD.at:
This picture, taken on Thanksgiving Day, was at the home of my brother with aunts, uncles, and cousins attending. After a delicious turkey dinner, the children put on a puppet show for the adults, rode bikes and enjoyed a day in the country. We took several pictures and then told the children they had the freedom to be funny. This was what we got!
