MOTHERING

"The greatest thing you will ever do is be a Mother!"

- Ellen "D" Beus Thurgood, my Mother

On this Thanksgiving, the 400th, I am truly grateful for motherhood and all of my seven children and three extras. I am grateful for the joy they have brought into my life. Each one came with a unique personality which gave our family gifts of example, peace and mindfulness of others. I can see the gift of quick to act and brotherhood, love for the lonely, depressed and homeless, . I have seen the gift of being resolute and facing adversity with faith, the gift of thinking deeply and fortitude. One child arrived with a smile that said, “You can do it Mother!” liveliness and hope. In addition to our own children we had foster children who shared the gifts of love for babies, picked up on the blessings of having a great example, kindness and joy in little things. Without doubt, because of our lack of parenting I am grateful for ministering angels who were tenacious in watching over our children so that all survived their childhood, the turbulent teens, and grew to be responsible devoted parents who are raising delightfully fun grandchildren and great grandchildren to enjoy and love.
