Work contributes to health, wealth, and happiness. Unknown
My mother was an “Employment Specialist” when it came to work. She found work for all of her seven children to do. We learned to do dishes, hoe weeds, pick and can fruit, and clean the house for Sunday at an early age. A favorite phrase was, “Idleness is the devil’s workshop.” Work is a privilege and a blessing. When we were old enough to earn money, ten years old and up, jobs were found, tending children for a neighbor, picking strawberries at 4 a.m., then at 16 years old, working as a carhop. I graduated on Friday from High School and started work at Hill Air Force Base on Monday. Work gave us self-esteem and a felling of belonging and self-worth. Work was enthroned in our house, and Mother was the “Employment Specialist.”
