“In 1814 we took a little trip along with Colonel Jackson
down the mighty Mississip” - Johnny Horton
It is vitally important to keep your marriage young as years go by and children arrive. Lucky is the couple who have siblings or parents that help with your children and make it possible to sneak away for a weekend. Recently a niece said she and her siblings were taught by their father: “Love your spouse fiercely.” The wording was perfect. It was not love him gently, love him when convenient, but “fiercely.” Great marriages are founded on this kind of love. When the weekend arrives that you can get away, travel if possible to places of destination. Such was the case when this picture was taken. We had a convention that took us to New Orleans, where we caught a riverboat up the Mississippi to the Chalmette Battlefield. We were humbled as we read the history behind that battle and the intervention of Divine Providence. We were young again!
