Independence Hall

"We mutually pledge pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.".

This spring, I went on a three-week trip to the East coast. One of my favorite stops was Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We walked through the door, down the hall, to the room where the Declaration of Independence, a document inspired by God, was signed by great and brave men. My daughter and I listened to the tour guide tell the story of this sacred place. I remembered the movie “1776” and reflected on Liberty Bell that rang as each delegate placed his signature thereon. I thought of the brave and heroic men and “lads, most of them under fifteen years old” as stated in Washington’s letters to Congress. I thought of the picture on the $2 bill. Those men signed with this statement, “we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.” May God Bless America!
