When I grow old and can have what I please, I will choose Grandma’s
Hot Chocolate and toast! - Marjorie Thurgood Barton
It all started as the Grandchildren began staying at Grandmother and Grandfather’s house while parents enjoyed a night out. We loved the company of Grandchildren. When Grandfather passed on Grandchildren helped fill his absence. The evening began with a simple dinner, then a fun movie, playing games, and story time. Grandmother loved telling stories. Sometimes they were stories she had read, sometimes a children’s book she cherished, sometimes stories about the funny antics of their parents, sometimes Grandfather and Grandmother, the struggles and adventures they experienced sparkling in a different time and a different place.
Noting how much the children loved sitting around a campfire and gathering around a dinner table with candles, I decided to make some hot chocolate, toast some bread and light the candles for story time and called it Hot Chocolate & Toast.. To my delight and joy the Grandchildren loved it; gathering around a table with candles became a magic time.
