Here We Come A-Caroling

The joyous fun of Christmas Caroling

Christmas Caroling began in the 1880’s. There is a story from the book, "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" titled, lCaroling in Gloucestershire. It was fun to read. To my surprise, it told of a boy’s choir going caroling in England. They put candles in jars and sang in the wealthier part of town. Usually only the servants answered the doors. Our family started going Christmas Caroling soon after a group came to our house singing. We found it to be a great Christmas activity. Along with the singing, we took banana bread to the homes we visited. As a youth from a country town, we practiced Christmas carols for a month and then rode on a wagon of hay bales pulled by a tractor to sing to the families of our area. Christmas Caroling is a joyous experience.
