Prayers answered and children arriving required I learn more about discipline. I began a study and found to my great delight it did not mean straight out punishment but came from the Latin word “disciplina” meaning “instruction and training”. I liked that. With further investigation I discovered the word “disciple’ comes from the Latin word discipulus meaning “student” or “follower”.. With this information came the thought: Instead of becoming angry take a picture and recognize that these children are my students. They needed to learn. My favorite type of teaching was with stories just as my mother had done. When the children became old enough, I had them copy a poem or scripture relevant to their misconduct. I made up a booklet of poems, scriptures, and quotes titled, “Fun Discipline”! It was fun because I knew they were learning and thinking about what they had done wrong as they learned. They were my “students”!
