Girls love a fashion show. A wise mother saves one or two fancy dresses for her daughters to dress up in. My mother had a blue velveteen dress that I cherished as a child. Our neighbor across the street owned a yellow brick house with Italian shingles and a large porch. One of the most fun days of my childhood was going to her house with my sisters to play dress-up with her daughter. I remember putting on a fur piece, heels, and hat, then going inside to talk on the telephone with my mother pretending I was a movie-star.
When I became a mother I brought out a couple of discarded dresses, high heels and hats for my own daughters to play dress-up in, they loved it. Then Granddaughters came and I still have dress-up clothes. This picture depicts the fun they had with a purple gathered skirt, black cape, green dress, red skirt and pink dress. They set the boom box up for music, practiced walking down the ramp and turning around on our back patio stage. It was a fashion show to remember.
