“It ought to be solemnized with Pomp, and parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of the Continent to the other...” - John Adams
Children love a parade. As a child, my parents celebrated holidays in July by taking us to the parade where we stood with our hands over our hearts as our Flag carried by men in Uniform went by to the music of “Oh, Say Can You See ...” We watched the High School Bands, the Boy Scouts, the Cowboys, and Cowgirls, along with Soldiers in Uniform. The Mayor and other elected officials rode in vintage cars. We loved the floats depicting life in our area past, present, and future. We watched the funny clowns and begged for cotton candy. We popped firecrackers and lit sparklers. We followed the tradition of our parents with our children. Pictured above are two of our children sitting in a funny car driven by a clown. Let us all celebrate as John Adams wanted the 4th of July celebrated.
