In 1789, George Washington became the first president of the United States. He has been called the father of our country for leading America through its early years. Washington also served in two major wars during his lifetime: the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. With over 100 black-and-white illustrations, Washington's fascinating story comes to life - revealing the real man, not just the face on the dollar bill!
MY REVIEW: Among the New York Times Best Selling Series, I consider this a great book. I am a big fan of George Washington and have several books about him in my library. I gave this book to my Grandsons for an overnight sleep-over and served Martha Washington’s cornbread recipe with butter and syrup top along with a hard-boiled egg for breakfast. The boys enjoyed the book and had a great time. I felt the illustrations were very well done.
