Children learn to read and love books when adults share their own pleasure in reading and language.,
A review on Amazon states: Donna Green's illustrations are the very best part of this book. They accompany several pages of beloved, traditional Christmas prose, poetry and carols that are made all the more special for the reader - and especially children- by studying the illustrations, while listening to a read-aloud or sing-along.
MY REVIEW: I dearly love this book, given to me by a friend several years ago. Every year i pull it out of my library and review again the beautiful illustrations which accompany the stories and songs. Among the stories is Christmas Underground, by Kenneth Graham, "What a capital little house this is," Mr. Rat called out cheerily. and Stories in Gloucestershire, by Laurie Lee, "...I think back to that night, the crunch of snow and to the lights of the lanterns ..." These are some of the great stories of Christmas. The last section contains favorite Christmas Carols beautifully illustrated with music. For 9 year old to the elderly will enjoy this beautiful book.
