Life Among the Lava Beds by Leonard Stephenson

Fun Chapters: Roundup Time at Dempsey Creek, Hawthorne Fishing Hole; Teaching Press a Lesson - Leonard Stephenson

GOOGLE SAYS: A collection of stories about growing up in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, in the 1950s. Sharing his adventures of friendship, fishing, horseback riding, camping, and mischief making, the author makes Lava come alive as we meet Bo and Press and Till, Bake and Eggs, the mammoth bully Walt Garthon, and the dread teacher Mrs. Frankstein.

MY REVIEW: Teenagers need a book that will lift them out of the pressures of teen years. Something that will make them laugh and make them think, life is an adventure. This book, “Life Among the Lava Beds” will do that. It is fun stories about a group of young teenagers and their escapades as they rode horses, went camping and progressed through those difficult teen years. I loved the stories..

Have older children read to you. They will associate the pleasure and treasured time of the reading experience with books.
