This is a wonderful picture book biography of Jane Austin, born in the late 1700s. Her father had a school for boys and Jane was an intelligent young girl with a very creative mind. This book is thought provoking with delightful illustrations. One of my favorite parts reads: “In the evenings, in the parlor, Papa would read out loud. Here, in this one dim room, into the mind’s eye came the brave deeds of kings and the quick flash of swords. There were funny clowns and sad lovers; tricks and jokes, tears and battles. ...”.
