Mom’s Turkey
1 Remolds Oven Bag - Turkey Size
1 Tbs. flour
12 to 14 pound turkey, thawed
2 stalks celery, sliced
1 medium onion, sliced
Salt & Restaurant Brand Black Pepper to taste
! Tbs. Onion powder
1 cup margarine or butter divided
Preheat oven to 350°
Place flour in oven bag and shake then place in a 2 inch deep roasting pan. Add vegetables to oven bag. Remove giblets and neck. Rinse turkey and pat dry. Salt, pepper inside and outside of turkey. Shake onion salt on inside and outside the turkey. Place turkey in bag. Place ½ cup of margarine inside turkey. Divide ½ of margarine in pieces. Place dollops of margarine in various places over the top of the turkey. Close bag with tie and cut four, half inch slits, in top of bag. Tuck bag ends in pan.
Bake till inserted meat thermometer reads 180°. Remove from oven and let sit for ½ hour before slicing. For more flavoring, cut up an orange and place inside of turkey. It is will tenderize the meat. You may also one cut up apple. TIP: Sprinkle turkey with paprika for more even browning.
