Known in history as "The Father of His Country!"

My copy of this book has a different cover and is brown with age, worn, corners beaten and cover chipped which lets one know it is loved. I have read and browsed its pages many times and taught its stories to my grandsons. It has amazing information about George Washington, the people and experiences that influenced him. Read how he became a man dedicated, just, and incorruptible in spite of incredible odds. You learn about his father and mother, their teachings, and his admiration of his older brother, Lawrence.
His childhood was filled with happy days of growing and leering on Ferry Farm. He studied and copied the rules of Civility; "Accept corrections thankfully!” and "When you speak of God or His attributes let it be with reverence.” This book writes of his trials and struggles as a teenager and moving into public affairs.
He studied Cyrus the Great, Plutarch Lives, and Cicero’s orations. After reading The Makings of George Washington you can see the education that qualified him to hold the title “The Father of His country.”
