Mother's French Onion Soup

Mother’s French Onion Soup


3 medium onions, sliced

2 Tbsp. margarine or butter

4 cups of water

4 cubes Beef bouillon

1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

2 thin slices French bread, toasted

Grated cheese


Cover and cook onions in margarine in 3-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring now and then for 30 minutes. Add water, beef bouillon cubes, and Worcestershire sauce, heat to boiling. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 30 minutes. Place ½ slice toasted bread in each of

4 soup bowls, sprinkle toast with cheese, and pour hot soup over toast and cheese. Serves 4.
