Grandmother Ellen’s Banana Bread

½ cup margerine

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 cup mashed bananas

1 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp. soda

½ tsp. salt

1 ½ tsp. baking powder

¼ cup sour milk (mix 1 tsp. lemon juice with ¼ cup of milk)

½ cup of nuts

Cream margarine and sugar. Add eggs and mashed bananas, vanilla, flour, soda, salt, and baking powder. Stir in sour milk and nuts.

Surround children with books and writing. Visit your library regularly and make buying new books a frequent treat. Put cloth and board books in the baby’s playpen, and keep one or two books in the car for older children.
