“But early Sunday morning, there was an earthquake. ...” -Karyn Henley, Beginner's Bible

Like the March family in Little Women, I had a brother, Donny, who died when I was 8 years-old. Mother had been told that he would only live to about the age of 13, because of a heart condition. I remember my sadness. I had been aware of death but not the sadness of it. At a concerned moment, I went over to my father, sat on his lap, and asked about my brother. We lived a mile from a train track and I worried about trains. I said, “If a train ran over Donny would it hurt him?” His reply was, “No it will not hurt him and someday we will see him again." I recall the peace that came over me. Later, as I grew older, my father taught me it was because of Easter and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, that we would someday see Donny again. This gave me much comfort over the years as Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, and the “Love of my life” graduated from this life to the next. The "Surprise," which the chapter on the resurrection in the Beginner’s Bible it titled, is that on Easter morning over 2000 years ago, Jesus came alive again.. We are blessed to celebrate Easter.
